St Cyres School is celebrating a record-breaking set of 2016 results.
Headteacher Dr Jonathan Hicks commented: ‘We were delighted with the grades that our A Level students achieved, which bucked the national trend and showed an increase in our A* and A Grades.
Following the trend of the last two years, our Year 11 pupils have once again achieved record results in their GCSEs, with the best results the school has ever seen.
Our GCSE Level 2 Plus pass rate has increased by 12% on last summer, to 71%, with more pupils than ever before passing Maths and English. Our Level 2 pass rate rose to over 90%. These represent the highest figures in the school’s history.
I should like to pass on my warmest congratulations to all of our pupils and to publicly thank our tremendously committed and skilled staff for all their hard work this year.
These two wonderful sets of results, plus our recent best-ever Key Stage 3 results, allied to our consistently high attendance figure of 95%, all show that St Cyres School is providing an excellent education for local children. This is reflected in the fact that we now have a waiting list for places in our September 2016 Year 7 intake.
We are proud to serve the local community in our superb new building and grounds, and will be endeavouring to achieve even greater success in future years. Our Open Evening on Thursday 13 October 2016 will give parents of current Year 6 pupils a chance to visit us to discuss admissions for September 2017.’
