Year 9 and 10 pupils have recently returned from the History visit to Normandy. Whilst in Normandy, we visited Honfleur, Maisy Battery, Arromanches and the American Cemetery at Coleville, overlooking Omaha beach. The Arromanches cinema and museum told the story of the Normandy landings and gave pupils a detailed insight into the preparations and consequences of the invasion.
The highlight of the trip was a guided tour around Maisy Battery which played a crucial role in German defences in the region. Pupils also had the opportunity to go bowling and visit local markets during the visit.
