Commemoration Visit at Mametz 2016

Ten sixth form students have returned from attending the First World Commemoration Service at Mametz on 7th July 2016. Students played an integral role in the service by laying a school wreath, handing wreaths to attending dignitaries and lining the slope up to the memorial. Students also visited Flat Iron Copse Cemetery where Headteacher, Dr Jonathan Hicks spoke about individual soldiers. Students also had the opportunity to look at First World War artefacts. Prior to the visit, all students involved took part in the Year 6 induction day where the focus of History lessons was the welsh soldiers experience of the First World War.
