Ten sixth form students have returned from attending the First World Commemoration Service at Mametz on 7th July 2016. Students played an integral role in the service by laying a school wreath, handing wreaths to attending dignitaries and lining the slope up to the memorial. Students also visited Flat Iron Copse Cemetery where Headteacher, Dr Jonathan Hicks spoke about individual soldiers. Students also had the opportunity to look at First World War artefacts. Prior to the visit, all students involved took part in the Year 6 induction day where the focus of History lessons was the welsh soldiers experience of the First World War.
Ronak’s Nuffield Placement
Ronak Shah was one of 75 students who took part in a Nuffield placement over the summer holiday. Over 330 students applied for a placement so this was very prestigious
PiXL Event
Pupils from both Year 10 and Year 11 took part in a PiXL event in the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport. The pupils were given a comprehensive guide into how to apply for the top universities in the UK, including the prestigious Russell Group Universities
